ITA-Lufthansa (3). Italian Uiltrasporti: "Mef must immediately summon social partners"

"We will not accept an uncertain future for company workers"

"It is already a serious matter to have learned from press sources that the Ministry of Economy and Finance did not sign the document to be sent to DG Competition that should have marked Lufthansa's entry into the capital of ITA Airways". This is what the general secretary Marco Verzari and the national secretary Ivan Viglietti of Uiltrasporti declared in a note. They continued: "This failure to sign risks jeopardizing the success of the operation and if this were to happen, it would be an extremely serious matter because, in the face of negotiations with the EU Commission carried on for months by the Ministry of Economy and Finance and ITA Airways without involving the trade unions in any way, now it would be the workers who have made so many sacrifices in recent years, who find themselves faced with a risky scenario.

All this -Verzari and Viglietti continue- is unacceptable for a Government that should ensure industrial development for the country and stability for workers.

We therefore ask for an urgent meeting because we will not accept in any way an uncertain future for the thousands of workers of ITA Airways, of the related industries and of those who are still on redundancy.

We are not interested in any governance dynamics, we are interested in investments for the growth of the airline. The Mef should stop playing with fire - they conclude - immediately define the negotiation with Lufthansa by asking for and obtaining investments to guarantee the growth of the fleet, employment and the renewal of the collective labor agreement, and, as the majority shareholder, also put its investments on the table so that ITA Airways can have a leading role within international alliances worthy of our country and the important market it represents".
