Success for the Catl electric plane

Chinese company completes test flight with battery-powered aircraft prototype

The test flight of an electric plane made by the Chinese company Contemporary Amperex Technology Limited (Catl), a company specializing in the production of batteries which is making progress in the development of aircraft powered by energy accumulators, has been successfully completed. It was announced by management during the "New Champions" meeting of the World Economic Forum held in Dalian, China.

"The condensed battery leverages highly conductive condensed-state biomimetic electrolytes to build a micron-level self-adaptive network structure that can tune the interactive forces between the chains, thereby improving the conductive performance of the cells and, in turn, the efficiency of the transport of lithium ions and increasing the stability of the microstructure", the Chinese company explained in a statement.

Catl CEO Robin Zeng said a four-ton electric plane has successfully completed a test flight powered by modern condensed batteries. The goal of the company, which collaborates with state aircraft manufacturer Comac, is to achieve a flight range of up to 3,000 kilometers by 2027 or 2028. This electric aircraft will then be marketed.
