QANTAS TO BOW OUT OF HAZELTON AIRWAYS

SYDNEY, Qantas Airways quitted the bidding for Hazelton after the competition watchdog blocked its offer of acquisition because it would compromise competition in the regional aviation industry. Ansett, a unit of Air New Zealand, is the other airline competing in the takeover of Hazelton Airlines.
