Some airlines decline to match Continental hikes
Rome, Italy - Its starting a certain resistance to the oil raise=fare raise
Just two days after Continental Airlines raised worldwide fares up to USD 20 each way (see AVIONEWS article), citing higher fuel costs, the fare hike was faltering as two big carriers like American Airlines and Northwest Airlines declined to fully match it. These companies are competing not on oil fares but on airports choosen for their costs and so they pass from one to another serving the same area....
