FAA URGES RUNWAY UPGRADES

WASHINGTON, Director of the FAA's runway safety program, john Mayrhofer, required some upgrades of runwways and federal regulations. Would be basic: better runway markings, more exact communication between pilots and air traffic controllers, new technologies to make runways safer, like a monitoring system. Mayrhofer added that FAA will ask airport operators to adopt some suggestions immediately.
