35 new Airbus aircraft for Spirit

Washington, USA - An option to purchase 60 more airplanes has been signed, too

Spirit, an American low-cost airline, based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, currently the 14th in the US, has signed a contract with Airbus for the delivery of 35 new aircraft by 2005, for a total of USD 2m. The airplanes will substitute the MD-80s currently used. Moreover, the carrier has signed an option to purchase 60 more aircraft. Spirit operates 115 flights in the USA and one to Cancun, Mexico.
