US Air Force wants to lease rather than buying planes for its fleet

According to a Congressional Budget Office (CBO) report released yesterday, an Air Force plan to lease 100 refueling tankers from Boeing will cost USD 5,7bn more than buying the planes outright. The CBO report estimates that the lease-buy strategy would cost USD 21,5bn, while buying the aircraft outright would cost USD 15,9bn.
