A318 powered by CFM56-5 takes its maiden flight

Hamburg, Germany - It is scheduled to take service in summer 2003

Yesterday the first A318 aircraft powered by CFM56-5 engine successfully carried out its maiden flight Hamburg-Germany. The first CFM56-5 powered A318 should be ready to enter service at the end of summer 2002 with the Us air carrier Frontier Airlines. At the moment Airbus received order for 108 A318s from nine customers. (007)
