UAL FILES FOR US AIRWAYS TAKE OVER IN BRUSSELS

BRUSSELS, UAL, the parent company of United Airlines, has filed for European Commission approval for its USD$4,3bn takeover of US Airways. The merger, still to be cleared by US regulators, must be reviewed by the European authorities, because of the size of the combined company's activities in UK and Germany.
