AMERICAN AIRLINES JET ESCORTED BY TWO FIGHTERS AFTER ATTEMPT TO ENTER COCKPIT
CHICAGO, An American Airlines jetliner en route to Chicago was escorted by two F-16 fighters after Edward A. Coburn, 31, a mentally ill passenger, tried to enter the cockpit. The man was subdued by the pilots and several passengers. No one was injured, and the plane landed safely at O'Hare International Airport. The Boeing 767 was carrying 153 passengers and nine crew members.
