EMERGENCY LANDING FOR A CANADIAN AIR TRANSAT JETLINER
LISBON, A Canadian Air Transat Airbus A310 en route from Toronto to Lisbon had to make an emergency landing in Portugal's Azores islands because of loss of fuel. The airliner burst tyres on landing and spilled fuel onto the runway, forcing the closure of the airport. Nine passengers were slightly injured.
