QANTAS TO RETIRE SIX BOEING 747 AIRCRAFT

AUSTRALIA, Geoff Dixon, Qantas ceo, today said the airline will retire six of its international Boeing 747s. "This decision will enable Qantas to significantly reduce the high maintenance costs associated with these older aircraft", explained Dixon. Two B747s will be retired in November and December, the other four in 2003.
