CANADA LENDS MONEY TO NORTHWEST

MONTREAL, Canadian government is to lend Northwest Airlines 80% of the $1.68 billion cost to purchase 75 CRJ440 regional jet aircraft from Bombardier Aerospace, reported Canadian International Trade Minister Pierre Pettigrew. The loan will run for 15 years. Pettigrew added that the loan is necessary "to protect Canadian jobs against unfair and illegal practices" by Brazil.
