USA: airplane fares +5.1%

Washington, USA - Travel Price Index +7,5%

US airlines increased ticket fares of 5.1% compared to last year and of 2.6% compared to a month ago. Travel Price Index, which is calculated by TIA (Travel Industry Association), rose by 7.5% in May. The main reason is fuel cost rise, which is up 33% compared to May 2005. Six of principal US carriers increased fares of USD 50 per route, while Southwest Airlines is the only one to keep prices the same....
