Last Friday a Varig B-737 lost a part of its gear on flight, while it was about to land at Brasilia airport. The airline did not say which part of the gear was lost, but said the landing was successful. Before the plane touched ground, anyway, all the airport security means had been placed at the edge of the runway, prepared to deal with any eventuality.
