Northwest Airlines loses more than one billion dollars
Eagan, USA - Because of bankruptcy expenses
Minnesota-based Northwest Airlines, under bankruptcy protection since September, lost USD 1.1bn in the first quarter of 2006, despite operating revenue was up 3.3% compared to last year, reaching USD 2.9bn. Despite the efforts in its restructuring process, through reduction of capacity for domestic and international routes, the carrier could not end the quarter in the black.
