Japan Airlines: 12 billion yen loss in the year's second half

Tokyo, Japan - The Japanese airline decided to cut salaries

Debts of 2005 second half were 12.4 billion yen, approximately EUR 86m. Reasons are numerous and known. The rise in fuel costs and air security problems which have increased after 2001 September 11 attempts. JAL’s decision has been both drastic and swift: workers’ wages will be cut by 10% from January 1st 2006 to March 2008, while management pay will be cut by 23% to 40%.
