ESA's probe bound for Venus

Baikonur, Kazakhstan - Venus Express to reach the planet in April 2006 and perform a monitoring of surface from above for 500 days

The Russian Soyuz rocket carrier with the ESA (European Space Agency) Venus Express probe on board took off from Baikonur Base in Kazakhstan today, and the probe has been put into orbit by a direct control from German site after more than one hour since the departure (see for details AVIONEWS).
