Italian Unions: easyJet flight attendants on 4-hour strike today

"First cabin crew unrest since pandemic"

“Today, on Wednesday 9 April, easyJet flight attendants are striking for 4 hours, from 10:30am to 2:30pm”. This was reported in a note by Filt Cgil, Fit Cisl and Uiltrasporti, underlining that “this is the first mobilization of easyJet cabin crew since the Covid-19 pandemic, called following the progressive and inexorable deterioration of working conditions”.

“For some time now", the unions explain, “we have been denouncing increasingly heavy shifts and rotations scheduled to the limit, with a direct impact not only on the psychophysical well-being of the crews, but also on the quality of the service provided to passengers. The real risk is in fact that of delays and cancellations, especially in the event of adverse weather conditions or air traffic congestion. The situation was further worsened by the company's decision to outsource key offices in shift planning, a move that increased disorganization, made it more difficult to assign hotels and transfers and increased the operational fatigue of the crews. Added to all this is another critical element such as the unilateral and arbitrary interpretation of the contract by the company, which undermines compliance with the rules and generates strong discontent among workers".

“We reiterate -Filt Cgil, Fit Cisl and Uiltrasporti finally affirm- our willingness to reopen a serious and constructive dialogue, as happened in the past, to re-establish a climate of discussion that puts the dignity of work and the quality of the service offered to passengers at the center”.
