Embraer announced today that it will be present at "Aero India 2025", Asia's leading aerospace and defense event scheduled for February 10-14. The Brazilian company will showcase its flagship KC-390 multi-mission tactical transport aircraft (renamed C-390 Millennium after 2019), along with a wide range of defense solutions, at its booth.
The aircraft model, the flagship of Embraer's military range, stands out for its versatility and operational capabilities. With a load capacity of 26 tons, a maximum speed of 470 knots and a greater range than other medium-sized military aircraft, the note reports, the aircraft is designed to support critical missions such as transport and launch of goods and troops; medical evacuation (Medevac); search and rescue (Sar); in-flight refuelling both as a tanker and as a receiver; firefighting and humanitarian missions.
Thanks to its ability to operate on unprepared or temporary runways (dirt or gravel), the aircraft represents a reliable solution even in difficult operating environments. In addition, the KC-390 has demonstrated its aerial refuelling capabilities using pods mounted under the wings, both to refuel other aircraft and to receive fuel from another KC-390. The general lines of the project indicate that the KC-390 is designed from the start to be refuelled in flight and to serve as a tanker itself.
The airplane, although derived from the E-190 (from which the KC-390 benefits from some successfully developed technological solutions), differs substantially in that its architecture is conventional for all aircraft in its category, i.e. high wing, T-shaped vertical empennage, two engines in underwing nacelles, main landing gear in 2 lateral fairings, large diameter fuselage with rear loading ramp.
