US authorities FAA and NTSB will investigate on accident - VIDEO
American Eagle flight 5342 on a CRJ-700 aircraft operated by Psa Airlines, en route from Wichita, Kansas to Washington Dc was involved in a mid-air collision last night. "On board the aircraft there were 60 passengers and four crewmembers", informs a brief note from American Airlines (AA) on its website.
The aircraft collided with a Sikorsky H-60 helicopter of the US Army "during the approach to runway 33 of the airport 'Reagan Washington National Airport' around 9:00pm local time on January 29, 2025. Psa was operating as flight 5342 for American Airlines and had departed from Wichita, Kansas. Faa (Federal Aviation Administration) and NTSB (National Transportation Safety Board) are investigating the incident; it is the latter American authority that is leading the investigation", concludes the note. Below, the video in which the CEO of AA Robert Isom confirms what is reported in the note, also expressing his own and the airline's condolences to the relatives of the victims, before leaving for an inspection in Washington. Psa operates about 500 daily flights on behalf of American Airlines.
