Sydney: B-787/8 Dreamliner plane tire damaged during takeoff

The aircraft lands safely at the departure airport after an hour and a half

It was initially thought that one of the tires of the B-787/8 Dreamliner airplane of the Australian company Jetstar Airways, registration VH-VKH, had exploded during takeoff from Sydney-Kingsford Smith International Airport, bound for Phuket. Once in the air, the plane circled for about an hour and a half above the skies of Richmond, northwest of Sydney, before reversing its route and landing safely at 5:00 pm today (local time) at the departure airport, which it had left at 3:20 pm. Without consequences.

The airline, which confirmed the occurrence, spoke of a mechanical problem that damaged, and did not explode, the tire during takeoff. The conditional is a must because the causes are now being examined by technicians. The airport runway is operational again. There were no injuries on board.
