CAE: agreement to develop simulators for Royal Canadian Air Force FAcT program

25-year subcontracting agreement with SkyAlyne (Cae-KF Aerospace jv) worth $1.7 billion

CAE announced today a major subcontracting agreement with SkyAlyne, a CAE-KF Aerospace joint-venture, for the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) Future Aircrew Training (FAcT) program. The 25-year, valued at approximately $1.7 billion, contract will see CAE provide aircrew training using cutting-edge technology through real-world flight training, advanced simulations and ground-based training.

Its work will be primarily focused at 15 Wings Moose Jaw in Saskatchewan (Royal Canadian Air Force aircrew training center, under the operational command of the 2nd Canadian Air Division), where it currently manages the NATO Flying Training program in Canada. In addition, the CAE-KF Aerospace partnership through SkyAlyne is aimed at strengthening training support for Air Combat System Officers (ACSO) and Airborne Electronic Sensor Operators (AES OP), thanks to the introduction of high-tech simulators and specific devices that will be deployed over the next five years in Moose Jaw, and in Southport, Manitoba.

In addition to this initial subcontract, CAE (formerly Canadian Aviation Electronics) is expected to sign a follow-on order shortly for maintenance-related in-service support performance, thus consolidating its role as a supplier of innovative solutions for military crew training.

The FAcT program will include aircrew training services for the Royal Canadian Air Force with the goal of helping to maintain a multi-purpose, combat-ready Air Force. It will include the provision of training for pilots, aircrew, air combat systems officers, and airborne electronic sensor operators.
