Turkish-Indonesian agreement on potential development of AEW&C aircraft
The Casa CN-235 to be the platform on which the joint project will be based
Indonesian Aerospace (IAe) has entered into a strategic partnership with the Turkish company Havelsan -active in the field of information systems and applications also for the civil aviation and defense sectors- for the potential development of Aew&C (Airborne Early Warning and Control System) aircraft. According to what was reported in recent days by the Indonesian industry itself through one of its managers, Mohamad Arif Faisal, the basic platform for the development of the joint project will be a CN-235, a twin-engine turboprop tactical transport airplane produced by IAe and the Spanish company Casa.
Havelsan itself has already gained experience in the development of AEW&C aircraft, having already been involved in the E-7T Peace Eagle (B-737 Aew&C) program for the Turkish Air Force (it developed 90% of the software used in the aircraft system). It also has the ability to modify, update and modernize the MCS (Mission Computing System) interface software, weapons controls and electronic support measures.
Maximum confidentiality, at least for now, about the start of the project and its development objectives.
