Italy. Emilia Romagna airports: an electoral priority
De Pascale (Pd): "Transfer share of air traffic from Bologna hub to smaller stopovers"
Decongest the "Guglielmo Marconi" airport of Bologna-Panigale in favor of the other airports in the Emilia-Romagna Region. It means transferring a portion of air traffic from the capital to the smaller airports: Forlì, Parma and Rimini. This is one of the objectives that the candidate Michele De Pascale (Pd) would be ready to implement if he were elected regional president. Voting will take place on 17 and 18 November 2024.
We need to "cope with the enormous growth of 'Marconi', we find ourselves managing objective disservices, but this derives from a territory that is 'hyper-attractive'". Therefore "one of the first acts of the Region will be to establish the four cities and the four airport companies and together write the new airport policy of Emilia-Romagna. There is space to decongest Bologna and enhance the others", affirmed De Pascale, current mayor of Ravenna.
A proposal also relaunched by Fabio Piccinini, secretary of the Uiltrasporti union of Emilia-Romagna: "We believe that the time has come, as per the previews of the National Airport Plan, to valorise the smaller airports present in our region, as it will be difficult to expand the surface of the 'Marconi' or even hypothesize new neighboring openings".
