Italy. Turin Airport: fear of downgrading
Deputy Minister Galeazzo Bignami was heard in the Transportation Committee
Fear of a downgrading of the "Sandro Pertini" airport of Turin-Caselle from international to national. This is what emerged during the hearing of the Italian Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport (Mit), Galeazzo Bignami, which was held yesterday afternoon at the Transport Committee of the Chamber of Deputies.
"Taking into account the requests from the territory, we represented to the Government the fear of a downgrading of the Turin-Caselle airport from international to national: a decision that would have negative consequences for the airport, which serves millions of citizens, and the Piedmont Region, which it is located in one of the most productive areas of the country", explained in a note Andrea Caroppo, vice-president of the Transport Committee and Roberto Pella, member of the Budget Committee.
"As underlined by Deputy Minister Bignami -they added- the classification will focus on objective criteria linked to the accessibility of the airports: we therefore hope that the Piedmontese airport, whose strategic value cannot be questioned, will be given the right importance and we will act as promoters to find the best solution in the interest of citizens and the territory".
