Fabio Ciciliano new head of the Italian Civil Defence Department

Fabio Ciciliano is the new head of the Italian Civil Defence Department. The appointment decree was signed in the last few hours by the undersecretary to the presidency of the Council of Ministers, Alfredo Mantovano, who holds the delegation for the security of the Republic. His settlement has been scheduled in Rome for tomorrow morning, Thursday 25 July 2024.
Born in Naples in 1972, he obtained a degree in Medicine and Surgery from the "Federico II" University of Naples, a specialist degree in Public Administration Sciences, and a master's degree in Economic Sciences. He was medical director of the State Police. He has gained relevant experience at the Health Directorate of the Ministry of the Interior, the national Civil Defence, the scientific technical committee for the management of the pandemic established by the Italian Government.
As head of the National Department of Italian Civil Defence, Ciciliano will take the place of Fabrizio Curcio, appointed in February 2021 by the then Government led by Mario Draghi and whose mandate would have expired in 2025. The Meloni Executive had been planning this for some time rotation. The appointment was anticipated on Monday 22 July by the Minister for Civil Defence, Nello Musumeci.
