Kurtz (Crowdstrike CEO): "Issue identified, fix applied"

Many delays in boarding operations, long queues at check-in and boarding gates, few canceled flight connections. These are the main effects of the IT failure that today, Friday 19 July 2024, affected numerous airports around the world. The problem is linked to Microsoft's Crowdstrike software, whose CEO George Kurtz says: "Identified, isolated problem, a fix has been applied". Meanwhile, airports throughout Italy, from North to South, passing through the islands, are dealing with the inconveniences of many passengers.

"Olbia airport communicates that, due to a global malfunction of some IT systems, the acceptance procedures may be delayed. It is advisable to go to the airport well in advance of the scheduled time", on read in a post on social networks by the management company Geasar, led by CEO Silvio Pippobello.

"Technical problems with the global IT systems of some airlines are causing disruptions on flights scheduled for today at the Florence and Pisa airports. Toscana Aeroporti is guaranteeing maximum assistance to its passengers. Passengers are invited to check the status of the I fly on the websites of the airlines and/or the airports of Florence and Pisa", on read on the website of the company led by CEO Roberto Naldi.

"We inform passengers that, due to a global IT problem on the systems of some airlines, there are slowdowns in the acceptance (check-in) and boarding (gates) operations of departing flights. At the moment there are no cancellations", they announce from the "Guglielmo Marconi" airport of Bologna-Panigale, led by the executive administrator Nazareno Ventola.

"Although its systems have not been impacted, delays and/or cancellations are occurring on departing and arriving flights due to a global problem with IT systems", communicates Aeroporti di Roma (AdR), the company led by CEO Marco Troncone and who manages the airports of the capital "Leonardo da Vinci" of Fiumicino and "Giovan Battista Pastine" of Ciampino.

"Due to a global malfunction of IT systems which has also affected airlines, arriving and departing flights are being delayed and/or cancelled", also announces on social networks the Capodichino airport management company (Gesac), led by CEO Roberto Barbieri.

"We inform our kind passengers that, due to a global IT problem that has affected the systems of some airlines, there are slowdowns in the usual check-in operations at the dedicated desks and in the usual boarding procedures at the gates", they reiterate from Verona Airport, a company led by CEO Alessandra Bonetti.
