Airports in haywire (2): 1400 flights cancelled
Provisional data from an analysis company
Thousands of flights worldwide have been canceled today due to the malfunction of the IT systems used by some companies in airports around the planet. The glitch is continuing to cause widespread inconvenience for millions of travellers.
At the moment, more than 1,400 airline connections have been canceled around the world, according to monitoring by the analysis company Cirium, specialized in the aviation sector. This is a figure set to increase today, Friday 19 July 2024, with knock-on effects that will continue tomorrow and perhaps in the next few days, in an attempt to reschedule flights.
These are some tips for passengers who are facing inconveniences: check the websites, apps and social channels of the company and the airport before going to the airport; constantly monitor your flight; arrive at the airport at least two hours in advance; bring food and drinks with you due to possible long waits; make sure you have a phone charger with you.
