Cybernetics, common defense, migrants, rearmament, ecology, border security, united Europe: these are the main themes addressed in the keynote speech by Ursula von der Leyen, who will preside the European Commission for another five years. Today the European Parliament decides whether to give her a second mandate: 361 votes of those entitled are needed to obtain an absolute majority. 

"It is necessary to work with member states on projects of common interest in defence, starting with a European air shield and cyber defence. We will ensure that these major projects are open to all and we will use all the tools at our disposal, both regulatory and financial, to ensure that they are designed, built and deployed across Europe as quickly as possible", said von der Leyen.

"We must match -she added- our ambitions with investments. It all starts with encouraging private investment in the defense sector. I will work with the European Investment Bank so that it can contribute to the financing and risk reduction of defense projects. common defense and innovation in the field of defence".
