The end of July 2024 will be an important period for the future of the Italian "Cristoforo Colombo" airport in Genoa-Sestri. The board of directors of Genoa Airport should meet in a meeting between the 25th and the 29th. That will be an occasion in which the majority shareholders will have to clarify three issues: the transfer of 15% to MSC; the coverage of the 2023 budget hole of -3.5 million euros; a possible recapitalization of 4.8 million euros.

Sitting around the table will be representatives of the Western Ligurian Sea Port System Authority (which holds 60% of the port), of the Genoa Chamber of Commerce (with 25%), and of the Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) maritime group which recently made an offer for the acquisition of a 15% share in the Genoa Airport company, sold by the Aeroporti di Roma (AdR) company.

It's the last meeting before the summer break. It is therefore unlikely that the board will be able to resolve the three most delicate dossiers. It will certainly be an opportunity to clarify two priorities: the possible investment of 2.8 million euros (60% of the 4.8 million recapitalization) by the port authority; the probable green light that the authority and the Chamber of Commerce could give to MSC's entry, as the two partners have the right of pre-emption on the share. It will be an opportunity to at least trace the future route of the Ligurian port.
