Brussels has authorized the sale of 41% of the Italian airline ITA Airways to Lufthansa. It is considered the merger of the year. A new global aviation giant is born. For the privatization of the Italian carrier, the Germans have put 325 million Euros in capital increase on the table and have given up some advantages to complete the operation.

On this matter, AVIONEWS interviewed Ivan Viglietti, Italian secretary of Uiltrasporti. Many topics were discussed: the concessions made by ITA and Lufthansa to obtain approval from Brussels, the future collaboration between unions and the German airline, the role of the Italian Government in the agreement, future hiring, the possible alignment of salaries between Germany and Italy, and the new board of directors.
