Evacuation test starting on 3 July 2024 with emergency services present

The evacuation tests will start tomorrow, Wednesday 3 July 2024, at the Italian "Costa d'Amalfi" airport of Salerno-Pontecagnano. Civil Defence, the Fire Brigade, the Carabinieri, the 118 doctors and airport officials will be present at the tests. The objective is to test prevention and limit damage to people and things in the event of an accident; carry out first aid; ensure collaboration between the various emergency services.

It was announced in the last few hours by the mayor of the municipality of Bellizzi, Mimmo Volpe, as reported by the Italian newspaper "Il Mattino": "On Wednesday 3 July at 3pm at Salerno-Costa d'Amalfi our civil protection of Bellizzi will participate in the opening exercise of the airport. Evacuation tests and civil interventions will begin".

In short, preparations are underway in view of the long-awaited reopening of the airport scheduled for 11 July. "We are working to create all the conditions, including infrastructural ones, that will allow the usability of this strategic asset. There will be days of fire to prepare for the opening, but it will only be the starting point" of a project which involves the activation of new services, declared yesterday in a press conference the parliamentarian Piero De Luca (Pd).
