Boeing buys Spirit AeroSystems

Airbus will take over component manufacturing activities for its own operations

The company Spirit AeroSystems, supplier of fuselages and other components for Boeing aircraft, will be purchased for approximately 4.7 billion dollars by the US Boeing Group. This is what is foreseen in the agreement reached in the last few hours by the management of the two companies, which provides for an agreement on the payment of 37.25 dollars per share. The announcement makes official the press rumors leaked in recent weeks.

"We believe the agreement is in the best interests of the public, our customers, Spirit and Boeing employees, as well as shareholders", Dave Calhoun, CEO of the US planemaker, said in a statement, underlining the important implications of this agreement on the country system in general.

The operation has a total value of 8.3 billion as Boeing will also take over the net debt reported in the latest financial statement of Spirit AeroSystems. Not only that: since the component manufacturer also works with the aircraft manufacturer Airbus, the latter will take over Spirit's activities related to the production of components for the European company's operations for 559 million dollars.
