Fire near a plane at London-Heathrow

Flames destroy passenger boarding ladder - VIDEO

Moments of panic at London-Heathrow international airport. An airport vehicle caught fire while it was near an A-320 aircraft operated by the flag airline British Airways, parked at Terminal 5. The flames destroyed the boarding ladder along which the passengers had just boarded.

According to an initial reconstruction of the event, the aircraft (registration G-EUYO) had just completed the passenger boarding procedures and was ready to take off. Suddenly, for reasons still to be clarified, an enormous cloud of black smoke was seen rising from an airport vehicle carrying the escalator still connected to the plane. The flames did not spread to the aircraft. The firefighters put out the fire, avoiding the worst.
