Aeroflot bets on MC-21 aircraft
The company is reportedly reviewing a large order for over 300 aircraft
The Russian national carrier Aeroflot is reportedly reviewing a massive order of aircraft dating back to 2022. This is a commitment to purchase 339 commercial aircplanes produced by brands controlled by the State group United Aircraft Corporation (Uac). The order originally included 40 Tupolev Tu-214 aircraft, to which were added 89 SJ-100 Superjets and another 210 Yakovlev MC-21s used for passenger transport.
"As the deadlines are increasingly delayed, we carefully analyze the agreement with the manufacturer. We are talking about transforming the order into 339 aircraft all of the MC-21 model", revealed the executive president of the national airline, Sergei Aleksandrovsky, interviewed by the television station "Rossiya".
Despite the delays in the marketing of the MC-21 aircraft, initially scheduled for 2022 but postponed due to the war and now scheduled between the end of 2025 and the first months of 2026, the Uac Group plans to produce 270 MC-21 aircraft by 2030. At the moment the development of this aircraft model is at the stage of certification of Russian-made PD-14 engines.
