USA: FAA gives green light to Archer air taxis
Now we are waiting for the "Midnight" to obtain flight certification
The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has granted permission to the American company Archer Aviation to start commercial operations using air taxis, announced the company. It is the second manufacturer of electric vertical take-off and landing (eVtol) aircraft in the Stars and Stripes country to have obtained certification.
Now Archer Aviation is waiting for the "Midnight" flying taxi to obtain flight certification from the US aviation regulator. This document is fundamental for the start of urban passenger air transport operations, as it establishes that the aircraft meets FAA design and safety standards.
"Midnight" air taxi are designed to transport people in an urban environment. They have a range of up to 160 km and a speed of up to 240 km/h. Powered by six battery packs, it has a charging time of approximately 12 minutes. Archer Aviation has the Stellantis automotive group as its majority shareholder, with the American Boeing and the American company United Airlines in minority.
