First international commercial flight for C-919 aircraft
China Eastern operates the connection with passengers on board
The first international commercial flight of a Comac C-919 aircraft with passengers on board will be operated tomorrow by the Chinese carrier China Eastern Airlines. This is the first time for this aircraft outside mainland China. The connection is scheduled for June 1, 2024.
It was reported by the Chinese newspaper "China Times". This is a charter flight between Shanghai-Hongqiao airport with destination Hong Kong, a connection that includes an outward journey (flight MU7191) and a return journey (flight MU7192). The company will use the made-in-China aircraft to transport some university students from Hong Kong who will participate in a cultural exchange activity in Shanghai.
Previously, the aircraft developed by the state-owned Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China had already flown outside China, but without travelers on board. It was in fact a test bed (flight B-001F) operated in February 2024 on the occasion of the "Singapore Airshow", the aviation show in which the Comac C-919 remained on display for five days at the airport of Singapore-Changi.
