Terminal 1 of the Israeli "Ben Gurion" international airport in Tel Aviv reopens. The Israel Airports Authority (IAA) announced this in recent hours. Operations at the facility were suspended seven months ago due to the war between the Palestinian group Hamas and Israel. The first national flights will take off on May 27th, while international flights will have to wait until June 2nd.

"The reopening of Terminal 1 will serve Israeli and international airlines as in the past, and will help expand the offering of flights to and from Israel and the range of destinations available to the public", explained Israeli Transport Minister Miri Regev. The reopening is linked to the need to manage the summer demand for flights: approximately 1200 flights and 200,000 passengers per month are expected in Terminal 1. 

In recent months all the airport's operations had been channeled to T3. Terminal 1 is dedicated to international air connections made by low-cost airlines and flights on domestic routes. The companies Wizz Air, Ryanair and Transavia France, as well as the Israeli carriers El Al, Arkia and Israir, are ready to warm up the engines of their planes on the take-off and landing runway.
