Austrian Airlines leases E-195 airplanes

Aircraft will allow maintaining frequent Vienna-Venice flights

Austrian Airlines will wet-lease an E-195 aircraft from the Air Dolomiti company. These are two carriers that are part of the same Lufthansa Group. The "loan" will last from June 1 to October 31, 2024. It is a move with which the Vienna-based airline replaces a damaged A-320/200N aircraft, which will be entrusted to maintenance by mechanics during that period.

"The collaboration with Air Dolomiti in the wet-lease allows us to minimize the impact of the damaged A-320neo. We are pleased to have found in Air Dolomiti a strong partner within the Lufthansa Group", explained the commercial director, Michael Trestl

The A-320neo aircraft (registration OE-LZQ) was damaged during a collision with airport infrastructure upon its arrival at London-Heathrow Airport on 6 April 2024. The accident did not cause any injuries, as the aircraft had no passengers on board, but the airplane suffered serious damage. The E-195 will soon operate the Vienna-Venice route, maintaining the current frequency of four daily flights.
