Genoa Airport: 15% to the Municipality

Bucci (Mayor): "It is essential to take an active part in the management of the city's airport"

The Italian Municipality of Genoa has been awarded a 15% share of the capital of the Genoa Airport company, which manages the "Cristoforo Colombo" airport in Sestri. It is a stake that was previously in the hands of the Aeroporti di Roma (AdR) company, which controls the Fiumicino and Ciampino airports, and which has now reached a preliminary agreement with the administration of the Ligurian capital.

"We believe it is essential that the Municipality of Genoa becomes an active part in the management of the city's airport, a strategic infrastructure for tourist, economic and commercial development on which important discussions are being carried out for an imminent relaunch", explained the mayor of the Ligurian city, Marco Bucci.

The value of the 15% share is worth 697,000 Euros (2022 data). With this move the municipality seeks to carve out a role for itself in the future privatization of the airport. The other shareholders of the Genoa Airport company are the Western Ligurian Sea Port System Authority (60%) and the Genoa Chamber of Commerce (25%). The Bucci administration imposes itself on the other five interested parties: MSC Crociere, Costa Crociere, 777 Partners, Spinelli-Hapag Lloyd, Levorato Marcevaggi.
