The US carrier American Airlines is said to be close to signing an agreement for the purchase of around 100 narrow-body aircraft, supplied partly by the European manufacturer Airbus and partly by the American Boeing. According to rumors appearing in the international media, the agreement would concern A-321 and B-737 MAX 8 planes and could be officially announced next week, in view of the meeting with investors on March 4. 

"We absolutely take current events into consideration as we analyze this order", the airline's chief financial officer, Devon May, had announced in recent weeks, making it known that the company was talking to manufacturers Airbus, Embraer and Boeing, despite being aware of the problems on the safety of aircraft made by the US manufacturer. 

Various international media have reported that the European company Airbus could win a slightly higher number of ordered aircraft. However, the agreement is still being finalized. In any case, the goal of the American Airlines company is to purchase them with deliveries starting from 2027 onwards.
