The international tour of the Chinese C-919 aircraft
First demonstration flights abroad in Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Malaysia and Indonesia
The Chinese State company Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (Comac) announced that its C-919 and ARJ-21 aircraft will carry out flight demonstrations for the first time in five new Southeast Asian countries in the next two weeks: Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Malaysia and Indonesia. The aim pursued by the Dragon company is to lay the foundations for future sales at an international level.
"The main purpose of these demonstration flights is to showcase the good performance of the aircraft and lay the foundation for future market expansion in Southeast Asia", explained a spokesperson for the Chinese company. To date, the C-919 aircraft has obtained more than 1000 orders, mainly from Chinese airlines and lessors, but Beijing aims to receive certification from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and the US FAA (Federal Aviation Administration).
After the international debut of the C-919 passenger plane at the "Singapore Airshow", an event that ended last Sunday, the aircraft will arrive in Vietnam to participate in an air show scheduled for Tuesday 5 March, at the Van Don International Airport. For the narrow-body plane these are the first flights carried out entirely outside of China.
