The Toll: four soldiers dead and three others seriously injured
A Sikorsky UH-60L "Black Hawk" helicopter (registration EJC2188) of the Ejército Nacional de Colombia crashed to the ground yesterday afternoon, Monday 5 February 2024, in the territory of the Choco department, on the border with the State of Panama. There were seven people on board; the toll is four soldiers dead and three others seriously injured. An investigation has been launched to reconstruct the causes of the crash, which occurred during the approach to the heliport.
Various Latin American newspapers report it. According to an initial reconstruction, the aircraft was engaged in a mission to transport supplies to the Cuti military base. At a certain point, for reasons still under investigation, the pilot of the aircraft lost control of the vehicle, which crashed to the ground in a rural area. The accident occurred when the rotorcraft was preparing to land.
