Airport strike on February 9th in Italy
A 24 hour mobilization involves handling service company staff
A 24-hour national strike in the airport transportation industry has been called for Friday, February 9, 2024. Postponed and canceled flights expected, with inconvenience and long waits at the boarding gates. Folded arms throughout the day by the staff of the companies that operate handling services at the "Enrico Forlanini" airport of Milan-Linate and that of Milan-Malpensa, as well as the airport workers in the main Italian stopovers.
The mobilization is scheduled to start from midnight and until 11.59pm. The air strike was proclaimed by the Uiltrasporti unions, Unione sindacale di base (Usb), Confederazione unitaria di base (Cub) and Federazione lavoratori autonomi italiani (Flai). Also crossing their arms were the flight personnel of the airline Air Dolomiti (Lufthansa Group) affiliated to the Associazione nazionale professionale aviazione civile (Anpac).
The workers' representatives ask for better contractual conditions: increases in monthly compensation; one-off bonus of 500.00 Euros; recognition of some seniority increases; "productivity" incentive; maintenance of improved social security agreements; other benefits (such as ticket-restaurant).
