B-737 Dreamliner plane returns to China
For the first time since 2019, Boeing makes a direct delivery to Beijing
For the first time since 2019, the US Boeing Group delivered a B-787 Dreamliner aircraft to China. The direct purchase was made by the private Juneyao Airlines, which received it in the past few hours. It's an important step, which could accelerate the end of the block on deliveries imposed by Beijing on this aircraft model.
In 2019, China froze most orders and deliveries of Boeing aircraft from airlines based in the Asian country. The reason? The fatal accidents which in 2018 and 2019 involved two B-737 Max aircraft as their sad protagonists. For this reason Beijing has forced Chinese airlines to keep these aircraft present in their fleets on the ground.
This first direct delivery (not a leasing) has been carefully prepared. Previously the Civil Aviation Administration of China (Caac) had carried out preparatory flight activities with a B-787 Dreamliner of the Juneyao Airlines company. Subsequently, in December 2023, Boeing obtained authorization from CAAC for this new delivery.
