Israel: attack in Jerusalem, victims
Extended truce for 24 hours, exchange between hostages and detainees continues
At least three Israeli victims and eight injured: this is the toll of a Palestinian terrorist attack which occurred this morning in Jerusalem. It was carried out by two attackers who, arriving by car and getting out of the vehicle, shot at the crowd. Meanwhile, while the truce has been extended for 24 hours, the release of Israeli hostages continues in exchange for the release of Palestinian prisoners. And the United States is calling for the ceasefire to be extended.
"This process has produced results. It is important, and we hope that it continues. We are going to continue talks with the Israeli government about the situation in Gaza", said the US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, shortly before meeting Israeli President Isaac Herzog.
"Over the last week we have seen very positive developments, with hostages returning home and being reunited with their families, and this should continue today". These diplomatic efforts have also enabled an increase in the shipment of humanitarian aid to the innocent civilians of Gaza who desperately need it. This process therefore produces effects and I hope they continue", concluded Blinken.
