The expected hell week for air transport in the United States has got off to a great start. In the main American airports today there are few cancelled flights. It could have been worse, considering that in these seven days a few million travellers take a flight to visit friends, relatives and family to celebrate Thanksgiving (23 November) together. The number of flights is increasing on an annual basis. 

These are some examples: at Newark Liberty Airport there have been six canceled flights in the last 24 hours; in Los Angeles there are five; only two in Detroit-Wayne; at the "Edward Lawrence Logan" in Boston there are four; only one in Tampa; three at the "John Fitzgerald Kennedy" in New York. Thus begins the holiday travel season overseas, with air carriers under pressure to try to avoid chaos and guarantee an adequate service. 

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA), which manages security at American airports, estimates that there will be 30 million passengers flying from November 17 to 27, with an average of around 2.7 million passengers per day. This reflects a +10% increase compared to the same period in 2022. Specifically, 4.7 million will fly specifically for Thanksgiving, marking an increase of +6.6% over 2022.
