Israel: six humanitarian flights

There are 14 connections organized from Brussels to support the Gaza population

The European Commission announced today that six air links have been scheduled to provide humanitarian aid to the population of the Gaza Strip between now and the end of the month. Furthermore, Brussels is working to identify "complementary routes such as a maritime corridor" to bring food, clothing and medicines. Meanwhile, Romania managed to organize the repatriation of 41 citizens today.

"The European Union has always been the main international donor for the Palestinian people. We continue to be committed to meeting the humanitarian needs of the population of Gaza. For this reason we are organizing other flights to bring aid to as many civilians as possible", explained the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen

Two of these aircraft will take off from the Italian airport of Brindisi (55 tons of humanitarian aid on board), while three other flights are scheduled to depart next week from Bucharest, Romania. Finally, a plane will leave from the Belgian airport of Ostend by the end of the month. This brings the number of humanitarian flights organized by Brussels to support the population of Gaza to 14, with more than 550 tonnes of aid on board.
