Nigeria deploys helicopters against oil traffic

Warships, aircraft and other military vessels in action

The Nigerian Navy Service (NNS) has announced the deployment of 10 warships, two attack helicopters and over 500 military boats in Nigerian waters. This is the "Sea Guardian" exercise, which aims to combat the theft and smuggling of oil, as well as piracy. The training was inaugurated with a celebration these days.

"This exercise will be used to train and demonstrate the capability of our ships at sea, to protect the maritime space of Nigeria and the Gulf of Guinea. Over time, our maritime space has been inundated with some threats both on land and in open sea, hence this joint exercise last conducted in 2021", said Rear Admiral Umar Chugali.

"Each mission presents new sets of challenges, considering that security threats in the maritime environment have become dynamic, emerging and complex. Hence, the Navy is evolving its tactics and strategies to ensure that uncertainty is at a bare minimum", concluded the Chief of Staff of the Nigerian Navy.
